Frequently Asked Questions

Here's a selection of some of our more frequently asked questions. Got something that's unfrequently asked? Just let us know.

Items

What are items?

Items are beautiful icons that you need to collect to complete sets. Think of it like collecting Baseball cards. Each one is unique and there will be so many that make up a Baseball team. Items are the same in that you have to seek all the items that make up a particular set. Some can be found by foraging, some by mixing, and some can only be bought in the WallaBee store.

What? Purchase? I thought this was a free App.

We have our own currency called Honeycombs which you earn by foraging at spots. When you forage at spots, you will either find items, honeycombs, or nothing (*sadface*). These honeycombs can be spent in the store to purchase those hard to find items. (HINT: Try tapping the little bee)

I've found/bought an item. How do I now save this into my set?

Tap the item when its inside your pouch and then tap the top right button to add it to your set. Easy!

What is this # symbol that comes with each item?

Each item is serialised and this is what the # symbol corresponds to. So, if you have #15 Sarah Jurassica Parka, then you are the only person who has #15 Sarah Jurassica Parka. Generally people like to collect the lower numbered items as it shows they got them first. Others may like to try and complete a set with items of the same number.

Whenever I find a lower issue (#) number of an item I already have, I'd like to take the higher issue out of my set collection and swap this. How do I do this?

Tap the item in your pouch to add it to your collection. The App will prompt you to make the swap. Its just that easy!

I want to take an item out my set.

Sure thing. Go into your sets, tap the set you want to release an item from, and select the item. Removing an item from your set costs 500 honeycombs.

It keeps telling me that my pouch is full up.

Your pouch was only designed to hold up to 30 items. To free up space, you can drop items at a place, try your hand at selling one on the marketplace, or you can try the available "mixes" to combine two items into one, subsequently freeing up a space.

Cool, so how do I drop an item?

When you are on a place page, tap on "Items". Here you can drop an item from your pouch and subsequently free up space.

I’ve found an item that I don’t want. What do I do with it?

You can “drop” items by going to a Place and tapping the “Items” button at the top. From there you can choose to drop an item at that spot. There are two limitations - a user can only drop one unique item per place (you can't have two bearded ladies at the one spot) and a place can generally only hold 30 items.

I see an item at a spot that I want, how do I get it?

Just tap the item you want and it will ask you to swap it with one in your pouch. Go ahead and choose an item from your pouch and the swap will take place. Simple!

Pouch

What is the Pouch

The pouch is where you store any items you are carrying around with you. Whilst you can only save one of each item to your set, you can store any mixture of items you like in your pouch. You are, however, limited to 30 items at a time.

Why would I want to keep items in my pouch?

If you want to drop or swap items at places, they must be in your pouch. Similarly, if you want to mix items, you have to do this in your pouch.

What is mixing?

Some items can only be created by mixing two other items together. When a mix is available, the "mix" button will be lit up in your pouch. Tap it to go into mix mode which allows you to select as many items as you want and try to mix them. If you're successful, the items will be used to create the new item. There are unique recipes for each mixable item so try and find them quickly before somebody else does!

Sets

Why is there a question mark instead of an item?

That means the item has not been released yet. As soon as it's found, a silhouette of the item will be shown. If you get the item, the name will show up and it will be coloured in but faded out until you save it to the set. (We have a 3rd party developer who created a twitter account notifying you when new items are released - you can find it at @newitems)

Places

What is Places?

A list of all the places near you. You can forage at places (to find items and honeycombs) as well as drop items. If other people have dropped items at the place, you can swap them for items in your pouch.

I'm trying to forage at a spot, but the "forage" button is a grey button saying I'm too far away.

You need to be within the radius of that particular place type. For example, to forage at a "food" place you need to be within 100m to forage. Places such as airports and baseball stadiums have much larger radiuses as the places are physically larger. If you find a problem with a spot, let us know and we'll get it fixed.

Store

What is the store

When you have been foraging, you will have found Honeycombs. These are our currency that you can use to purchase items in the store. The store will sometimes have items that cannot be found at spots, so its worthwhile checking it out and spending those honeycombs.

What are the brown bars under each item?

Each position in the store has a set number of items that can be sold. This bar shows how many are left. Once the bar runs out, the position will be restocked with a different item (so be quick - you might miss that item you really need!)

I bought an item but it won't let me buy another of the same kind

When you purchase an item, you have to wait for that particular position to restock before you can buy from it again. You can continue to buy any other item in the store whilst you wait though.

Market

Whoah, holy new feature Batman, whats this?

In v1.1, we introduced the Market place. Here you can see items that are available for sale from other users. This is available for you to get those hard-to-find items at a reasonable price. However, if you have a low serialised number, (maybe one of the first #10 items, you might see the, priced higher than others - This is the marketplace after all.)

Profile

How can I find my friends

From the profile page, tap Friends, and then tap "Find Friends". There is many options here where you can connect via twitter or Facebook and find your friends, or if you know their username, you can add them directly.

What about finding users in my local area?

Sure, in the "Find Friends" section, you can choose "nearby users". Maybe a local user can point you in the right direction as to where to find a specific item he or she dropped one day.

Activity

What is the Activity Feed

This is where you can see what your friends have been up to. It will display what items they have found, where they have dropped or swapped items, and any sets they have completed. It will also show any mixed items they've created and how to do it!

Settings

Reset Password

When you enter your password incorrectly on the login screen, it will offer you the opportunity to reset your password.

I don't like the metric measurement system. Can't I go imperial?

You certainly can! On the settings page, you can choose to use imperial measurements rather than metric.

What is "Hide My Location"

This setting means that you won’t leave any activity that relates to locations. For example, finding an item at a place would usually leave an activity post saying something like "Ben Dodson found Bearded Lady #1". If you choose to hide your location, this activity isn't created. This is a retroactive setting so if you create activity, then turn it on, that activity will be hidden. Similarly, if you turn the setting back off, your activity (even when you were hidden) will be recreated.

I don't want to share any of my progress with anyone, how do I do this?

In the Settings section, you can choose to "Hide My Profile". With this enabled, none of your activity shows up anywhere. This means nobody can find your profile, and any activity that is required (e.g. an item trail where it’s been picked up by a hidden user) will just say something like "This item was dropped by an anonymous user". You can still do everything a normal user can (dropping, swapping, etc) but you cannot add friends and you cannot be added as a friend (as nobody can find the profile). If you turn this option on, all of the friends you've added will be unable to see you.
